THE COALITION FOR CLEAN AIR is the only statewide organization advocating exclusively for healthy air for all Californians. Since 1971, CCA has worked to restore cleanair in California through advocacy, outreach and education.

Yoga For A Cause is an all levels donation based class that happens the
last Sunday of each month. This program is designed and orchestrated by
Laurie Searle (Founder of ewishingwell.org), Christine Burke and Ashley
Albrand and will include other teachers at Liberation Yoga. Every penny
donated will go to the cause of the month. These causes will range from
animal rights to kids rights and everything and anything where there is
the need for our support. We hope to bring some awareness and financial
aid to those who need it most while offering up our spirit and energy
towards the highest good - all this and a fun and healthy yoga class too!

Free Class For Beginners and Newcomers
Intro Course

$45 and includes ONE WEEK OF FREE CLASSES! This course is specifically
designed for someone who is brand new to yoga or has been away so long they feel brand new! Learn or re-discover the
essentials of the practice. The course covers the basics including proper
alignment, a beginners understanding of the breath, and answers questions
as to what exactly yoga is, where it comes from and why it's so important
to a healthy body, mind and spirit! We will cover basic standing and
seated postures, twists, forward bends, back bends and balancing postures.
The course prepares the student to feel comfortable in any on going Level
1 class.

THE SUSTAINABLE KITCHEN: Personal and Planetary Health in the Kitchen

In this workshop, we will explore the relationship between personal and planetary health in the kitchen. Sustainability Coach Deborah Tull will teach you how to make your shopping, cooking, and eating practices more eco-friendly. Drawing from years of experience as an organic farmer, a monk/cook at the Zen Monastery Peace Center, and a green consultant, she will take you on a journey that will change the way you cook and eat in your daily life. For yoga practicioners, this is an opportunity to expand your awareness of the body, mind, and spirit connection in your daily lifestyle and eating habits.

She has been engaged in sustainable living for 15 years, and is certified in Permaculture Design, Bio-intensive Organic Gardening, and Compost Education. She has traveled the world studying sustainable communities and spent 7 years training at the Zen Monastery Peace Center, a model for the practice of Peace and Sustainability.

Chakra Restorative With Constance Hart

This unique once a month 2 hour class is a candlelit healing experience
that combines gentle supported restorative poses with color, aromatherapy
and meditations to clear, awaken and renew your seven major chakras
(energy centers). Increases awareness and restores energy balance. A
special treat with chakra-tuned music! A fantastic way to end your
weekend and move harmoniously into your workweek.

We are thrilled to offer our first 200 Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in
compliance with Yoga Alliance. Our mission at Liberation is to provide a
community-oriented environment in which to explore the deeper aspects of
the self through the practice of yoga and thus live a more balanced,
healthy and enriched existence. What better way to explore a subject as
exciting and profound as yoga than to learn to teach?
The course will cover in detail yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation,
deep understanding of asanas, physical and energetic anatomy ( chakras,
nadis and bandhas) the art of communicating as a teacher, the business of
yoga (making a living!), the psychology of teaching, practice teaching,
mantra, mudra, kirtan and seva (service). We will also explore the
powerful practice of upanishad – dynamic group discussion.
The bulk of the course will be taught by Christine Burke, William Duprey,
Steven Espinosa and Jill Miller (anatomy) and will include other
stimulating Liberation Yoga teachers.
As an eclectic studio we believe in “non-dogma” and will offer a learning
experience that allows the most authentic and inspired part of you to
emerge. We will offer a synthesis of the many approaches to yoga as well
as explain and explore the various styles that fall under the umbrella of
Hatha Yoga.
The schedule will be:

Friday Evenings 6:30pm-9: 30pm
Saturdays 12:30pm-6: 30pm
Sundays 12:30pm-6: 30pm

After the 7-week course curriculum the remaining hours will be consist of
an apprenticeship with a chosen teacher, workshops and teaching a special
teacher training graduate class that will be on our schedule of classes
for a community price. In addition there will be a final project and
exam.
Upon completion of the 7 weeks you will receive a diploma from Liberation
Yoga. Upon completion of the remainder through apprenticeship you will
receive a Yoga Alliance diploma as a 200 Hour level Yoga Teacher.

$1,900 before July 1st
$ 2,000 after July 1st
$450 for apprenticeship and Yoga Alliance Certification
Minimum Total without YA Certification - $1,950
Minimum Total with YA Certification -$2,350
A deposit of $350.00 is due by June 15th to confirm your spot. This
deposit is non-refundable after July 1st. The training will be limited to
24 people.

Bios:

Christine Burke Co-Owner/Director Liberation Yoga
At the age of 8 Christine remembers remember thinking that the "now" was
very important. That each moment was a tiny universe and would never
happen again. Throughout her life she has been searching and has always
felt most comfortable when asking the big questions of life while fully
immersed in the small moments of existence. Yoga is a practice that allows
her to live life as a quest, a magical journey and the gift of sharing
that with others is Christine's eternal good fortune. She stepped into
Yoga as an actress and former dancer in New York at Jivamukti and was
enthralled by the practice as taught by David Life and Sharon Gannon.
She studied there as well as Integral Yoga and Om Yoga until moving to
Los Angeles in 1994. There Christine met her husband to be (Gary
McCleery)who introduced her to Center For Yoga (pre-Yoga Works) where she
began
teaching in 1999 and received her certification from CFY in 2000. She is
a RYT with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level.
Christine has been influenced, inspired and challenged by Ana Forrest,
Edward Clark(Tripsichore), Marla Apt, Paul Cabanis, Patricia Walden, Jill
Miller,Darren Main, Ganga White, Tracey Rich and all the teachers at
Liberation. Other main influences are her husband, her 3 dogs, torotise
and god-bunny Bob, her students, friends and family, Mother Nature and too
many poets, musicians and artists to mention. Christine's students range
in age from 4 to 93. She is a frequent contributor to LA Yoga Magazine,
has been featured in the LA Times, LA Weekly, Yogi Times, LA Yoga Magazine
and on the online program "Great Yoga Teachers". She is also an ambassador
to LuLuLemon Athletica. Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu - may all beings

Steven Espinosa
A former professional dancer, Steven has been teaching yoga since 1991. Having received his training at City Yoga in Los Angeles from Sue Elkind, Naime Jezzeny and Anthony Benenati. He has also taught both nationally
and internationally.

Steven's highest intention is to inspire and empower students to remember their true greatness, infinite goodness and unlimited potential. His heartfelt approach to yoga, combined with his deep understanding of alignment, anatomy and therapeutics has allowed him to realize that desire.

In addition to teaching, Steven has also had two plays produced in New York as a writer. He has also sung on cd's with both Krishna Das, Dave Stringer and Wah! In 2003 he was the credited on-set yoga instructor for the cast & crew of the film LEGALLY BLONDE 2.

William Duprey
William Duprey, ERYT 500, is an initiate of Sri Dharma Mittra and
teaches Hatha Yoga. His first yoga teachers were Jonathan Fields and
Lauren Hanna at Sonic Yoga in New York, NY. In 2003, he graduated
from their 200-hr. Teacher Training Program and began teaching at
Sonic. Shortly thereafter, he began studying with Dharma Mittra, who
was the first main independent Yoga teacher on the East Coast. Will
moved to Los Angeles, CA. in 2003, but returned to New York to
undergo an initiation process with Dharma.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Will has been teaching public yoga
classes and private yoga sessions full time. In 2005, Will also began
studying with Dr. Raam Pandeya, a master of Kayakalpa medicine, which
is a specialized field of alchemical practice revered in the Ayurveda
and Siddha medical systems of India.

Will integrates his studies of hatha yoga, raja yoga, and Kayakalpa
into his teachings, as well as a solid knowledge base grounded in a
five-year personal practice. Viewing yoga as a system of personal
transformation, he encourages students to discover inner awareness
and reach new heights. He is known for his uplifting and humorous
teaching style and his ability to integrate philosophy and subtle
energy flow into his classes.

Outside of his regular class schedule at Liberation Yoga and Maha
Yoga, Will teaches workshops, private instruction, teacher trainings
and international retreats.
